Description
Being Bri'esh. What does it mean to us living as British South Asians? How do we construct our identity to fit in with this westernised society?
You are officially invited to Club Sapna. A place created for the diverse South Asian community celebrating all of our shared experiences of displacement, identity, culture and fusion. Music representing us blasting out the speakers, marigolds surround the room and a splash of colour everywhere you look. Don your lenghas, your heavy jewels, wear your bindhis and bangles. Carry your version of your culture with you.
We explore the views of Sapna Patel, a British South Asian fashion designer, where her designs focus on allowing people to celebrate their heritage when they go out, what they want to wear to represent their ideals of their culture and their identity. Her project is celebratory. Celebrating her being born and raised in London., celebrating her being Gujarati, celebrating us amongst a creative South Asian community and celebrating a safe space for all of us.
