Description
Excerpt from The Sandhyavandanam of Rig, Yajus, and Sâma Vedins
Sand/cydrandanam is the daily prayer of the Aryans of India. It isa noble institution embodying a simple faith and breathing a loftv spirituality. And yet most of us Brahmans have turned it into a farce more or less. We have no tim''e'' for it in these busv days. We hardly suspect its existence till it is thue for breakfast or dinner; then mdmz''cl steps in and rudely reminds us of a duty. We owe to Brahmanhood. We throw down a few spoonfuls of water and-utter a few words which convey no meaning to us and feel satisfied that we have discharged a debt that is due to our religion. We fail to see that here as elsewhere the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.
