It was formerly the whom to keep a good healthy ewe to 7 or 8 years old, when they begin to fail and lofe their teeth Ewes are now commonly fold off with their fourth lamb. Since feeding with hay and turnips has been praélifed, fome of the fe males take the ram the firft year, and bring a lamb at a year old; but this is not ap proved of by judicious breeders, as it tends to make a weak diminutive flock. It is thought better to keep them from the ram till they are a year and a half old, and the fmalleft andweakeft to two years and an half. Big ewes are fold, in the fpring, from IO 3. To 12 s. Fucked ewes, at Michaelmas, from 8 5. 6d. To 9 5. 6d. Wedders, at 25. Years old, for feeding on turnips, at 1 I s. To 12 s. At 3 years old, from 12 s. To 14 5.
