Description
Bella Matthews has been chosen as this year’s Children’s Carnival Queen.
Excited to dance through the streets of London with best friends Iris, Tommy, and a parade of local kids, Bella has to learn the Soca Shuf!e.
Problem is, she has two left feet, keeps falling on her bum, and gets herself into some tricky situations.
With only a few weeks before launch day, although still learning to master the complicated dance steps, everyone is excited. Until one night thieves break into the Notting Hill community centre and steal the entire Chil- dren’s Carnival costume collection.
To make things worse, Bella’s cousin Rita is accused of the crime!
Bella, Tommy, and Iris know Rita is no thief and her innocence is con#rmed when Chinwag, the community centre pet parrot repeats a !urry of words that may offer insight into the theft.
With the help of Chinwag gleefully dropping clues, Bella and her friends are hot on the case, but time is running out!
Can Bella learn her dance steps in time? And will the real thieves be caught and the costumes returned before the children’s Carnival parade takes place?
Bella’s Notting Hill Carnival Parade is about believing in your dreams, self- worth, and resilience.

Anne John-Ligali, the author of the Bella and Friends series and Bella’s Notting Hill Carnival Parade, unveiled book three at Kentish Town Library in London on the 20th of July as part of her Bella’s Notting Hill Parade tour.
Her book launch coincided with the commencement of the summer reading challenge. The event was not only aimed at introducing her book with strong themes of resilience but also included a carnival-themed mask, flag, and carnival bag craft session that delighted all the children in attendance.
Additionally, there were carnival-themed handouts distributed during the event. Anne intends to revisit Kentish Town and Holborn Library this summer after continuing her book tour in New York. When she is back, she will conduct another carnival craft session for the kids.
