Description
Excerpt from Thesaurus Palaeohibernicus, Vol. 1: A Collection of Old-Irish Glosses, Scholia Prose and Verse
The language of these glosses is of the same kind as that of the main body of the Milan glosses, only it is purer, and freer from serious scribal errors, particularly in the glosses assigned by Ascoli with certainty to the other hand. In some instances words, or parts of words, omitted by the chief glossator are supplied, and it seems not improbable that we have here things omitted by the scribe in his transcription, and added afterwards by a more careful copyist. The glosses are here edited after a collation made in 1887 by W. S. Of Ascoli''s edition with the manuscript. For the sake of greater clearness words written in parts in the ms. Are here written together, but in every such case the ms. Reading is given.
