Description
Excerpt from Pitkin Family of America: A Genealogy of the Descendants of William Pitkin, the Progenitor of the Family in This Country, From His Arrival From England in 1659 to 1886
In 1864 - 5 hundreds of genealogical blanks were mailed to Pitkins, and Pitkin mothers, settled in most of the States and territories.
To many of them I am indebted for prompt and complete records of their families and relatives, while of others of the family it has taken years of time and no small amount of perseverance to ascertain their whereabouts, together with no small expense for printing, postage, and traveling expenses.
In no case has a possible clue been abandoned, although many dates are wanting; necessarily so, from the loss of early records, both of church and town, and others from neglect in answer.
