In legal practice the word order is used to de scribe any written direction or mandate given by a judge or court for the performance of, or abstinence from, any act in connection with the suit when the same is not embraced in the final judgment. The words used to describe or designate various forms of orders, with reference to the stage of the case, are preliminary, initial, interlocutory, and final.
