Description
Excerpt from Nurses for Our Neighbors
And yet, after all, where one is cared for in a hospital or by some other organized charity, ten of our helpless neighbors are cared for in their own homes by their relatives. This too often means both that the care given them is inadequate and that the family is over burdened.
Without undertaking to discuss the question if diseases and all other bodily afflictions are in themselves evils, it may well be Observed that the helplessness of the neighbor, however caused, affords fine Opportunity for fellow service. Separated as neighbors may be by race and by other social Characteristics, phys ical helplessness levels all such distinctions. The pauper and the millionaire alike are but beggars then. And a ?ower or even a kind in quiry offered at such times often is the begin ning Of a lifelong friendship.
